One of the previous Opel publicity photos I added to my stream triggered so many reactions, that I thought I should add this one the CM&G group. Again a photo depicting an era some of us remember. And again sexism is all over the place: one guy and two scantily clad gals. Buy an Opel, and you can get all the girls, even if it is just a Kadett.
Of course a scene like this is very hypothetic in Europe: there are not many places where you are alllowed to drive your car on the beach. And who wants to do so with a new car anyway?

Beach fashion would change soon too in Europe. It would be only a matter of years before bikini tops would catapult in the air, when suddenly a large number of European sunbathers decided that less was best. I remember interviewing the beach unit of our local police force. One of the officers told me: "What do they expect? That I ticket my own wife?" Fashion for men changed too. Speedos ruled, and only in the nineties of the last century American style surf and swimshorts replaced them - at last offering some dignity for 40+ people. These shorts have their disadvantages of course, like the tendency to stay in the water when you want to leave a pool, and who really enjoys swimming with those counterproductive pieces of apparal? There's a bit of irony here: the less women wore, the more men did. A trend that is reversing now, now that females too want their dignity back, so old style bikinis and bathing suites are back on the beach. But Opel didn't mind about these fashion trends. As long as you believe that a homely Kadett will transform you in a windsurfing playboy, its mission is accomplished.
